All the elements that make up a perfect Bodyboarding event were to be found at the 1st. running of the Foul Bay Challenge 2009 presented by Bodyboard Barbados.    DSC_0063

Girls in bikinis, sweet reggae tunes and rum punch in hand. What else could an event coordinator ask for?
Behind such a perfect back drop as Foul Bay, the competitors’ abilities were tested as the one element no one has control over the ocean, produced less than ideal conditions.
After an extended break to allow conditions to improve the first heat hit the water at 12:30pm. From the word go the contestants showed that their abilities would not be hindered by the small 2ft-3ft swell.

First round standouts came from K. Straker, R. Burke, S. Adams & P. Larrier. This continued right through to the final heat as 3 out of the 4 were also finalist. S.Adams was replaced by a very determined J. Rodriguez who fought his way through two repercharge heats to get back into the main rounds to secure his spot in the final heat of the day.

As the final horn blew on the day’s event, P. Larrier winner of the Coles Road Classic showed his domination over his fellow competitors by securing two high scoring waves which proved to be more than sufficient and earn him the right to be called the 1st ever winner of the Foul Bay Challenge presented by Bodyboard Barbados.

Paul is now the points leader in the B3 Series which will surely give him a psychological edge over his fellow competitors leading up to the final event at Soup Bowl, Bathsheba.

The event at Bathsheba is going to held in conjunction with the Barbados Independent Surf Festival presented by CSN & the BSA.
The Bodyboarding category will be an invitational and spots will be limited to current competitors of the B3 series and foreign invitees.

A special thanks must go out to the guys from the Caribbean Surf Network, Chris Clarke & Nicholas Donowa for their continual support of the B3 series. With out their assistants and help from other event sponsors none of this would be possible.
So Once again, Thanks Guys!!!!!!

The first leg of the B3 Series presented by Bodyboarding

Oct. 28thDSC_0044
The first leg of the B3 Series presented by Bodyboarding Barbados got off to a fantastic start this Sunday pass at Coles Road, St.Philip, Barbados.
After a two hour delay to allow conditions to improve the first heat entered the water at 11:55am. The competitors were treated to 2- 3 ft. waves with fantastic wedges and deep barreling pits, this equated too some gutsy barrel riding by the likes of Russel Gittens and 2nd. place finalist Kwame Griffith.
Other standout performances from the day’s competition came from Paul Wilson who made a valiant effort after suffering from an ankle injury from an earlier heat to winning his repercharge heats and advancing as far to Semi Finals 1.
The main crowd pleaser came early from one Silas Adams, who in his 1st round heat demolished his competition by executing one of the biggest ARS’s (Air Reverse Spin) in the day’s competition. Silas is definitely one to watch for in future events.
As the day progressed and the sun started to settle it was the general consensus by spectators and competitors that the event would be remembered as one of the best. The blow horn to signal the start of the final heat saw finalist Kwame Griffith, Shane Watson, Paul Larrier and Ian Jarvis fight it out to see who would claim the right to be called the first ever winner of the Coles Road Classic.
In the end it was Paul Larrier who prevailed as the winner after executing a repertoire of manoeuvers which proved to be more than his other competitors could handle.

About Me

Xtreme Degreez occupies an important niche in the Caribbean by targeting the important 16-35 youth market. By offering in-depth reporting of such extreme sports as surfing, skateboarding, paragliding, off road 4x4, motocross racing, wind surfing, car racing and more, we\'ve created a cutting edge online magazine with enormous appeal to active youth in Barbados and the wider Caribbean. The basis of the online magazine is to primarily showcase a true sense of the extreme sports that are available in Barbados by allowing those involved to share their stories with the Barbadian public. It also give the trial and error segments related to each of the following sports and what is involved, therefore setting the pace for those who are interested in pursuing any such sporting activities. It also serves as an outlet for upcoming stars in extreme sports to be seen and heard and hopefully gains meaningful sponsorship thus giving them the opportunity to compete on the international seen as others before them. It also allows the Barbadian public to become more involved and foresee the vast opportunities involved in these types of sports.
